The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series finished in style with a gripping finale in Zolder, Belgium, marking the end of a thrilling 2019 season.

Dutch driver Loris Hezemans was crowned the 2019 champion while Stienes Longin saw his first ELITE 1 Division win in front of his home crowd.

Winners

As an official partner of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, General Tire has worked with all the teams in the series since its launch in April to deliver outstanding performance whatever the conditions. This has helped to ensure exhilarating racing for the fans.

Guy Frobisher, senior project manager at General Tires in Europe commented: “We run one tyre specification, on all four corners of the car, on every car, on every circuit. Consequently the same race tyre has to perform in the afternoon heat in Spain as well as in a chilly morning session in the UK and contend with everything in-between.

“Our demanding customers, whether professional racers or motorists driving on our General Tire street tyre range, have the same high expectations of quality and performance every time they get behind the wheel.

“For us, ‘Anywhere is possible’ is not just a slogan. We mean it and we deliver it.”

This was the first year of a six year deal in which General Tire provide the teams with slick and wet versions of tyres specifically developed in the US with the demanding NASCAR racing in mind.

NASCAR Whelen Euro Series president / CEO Jerome Galpin, said: “The drivers have really enjoyed racing on specially developed tyres from General Tire, which demonstrated how well a tyre can handle any racing conditions throughout the season. We are delighted with a very successful season and look forward to the next five years working with General Tire. Roll on 2020!”
